Over the last few years Jeannette Ehlers has concentrated her work on the digital image and its possibilities in the form of computer-manipulated videos – more specifically with found footage which she treats frame by frame. Like a surgeon she makes simple but  important adjustments in the appropriated material: removing, displacing, switching the focus and thereby creating an entirely new expression in comparison with the original. She attacks the pre-exisiting material, so to speak, and thereby uses destruction and reconstruction as an important approach to the work. Thus, Jeannette Ehlers investigates how one can interfere with images, and thereby their content, and how the result of these manipulations can alter the perception of our time.
