description :
”dePlaced” is a combination of one performance-piece and several
video-pieces, hence definable as an interdisciplinary project
consisting of a number of internally related elements.
Using a fundamental theme about ”displacement” (here understood in
relation to the position in social and metaphysical structures that
every single human experiences), a seria of sound-, video- and corporal
sequences that are turned into a half-hour long performance is
presented.
The interrelation between video and body is forming a central part of
the piece. Video works are creating a frame for the performance.
Thereupon situations emerge where the artists interact with the video
and the audience.
Sound, video, performance, installation and text are melting together
in a multimedia project that, besides treating a theme, is an artistic
experiment.
Next to executing a performance at the opening, Bella Angora and
Christian Falsnaes produces a row of video-pieces that are
integrated in sculptural installations which, along with a
documentation of the performance, are exhibited.
Every one of the videos creates an extra level in the universe that the
“dePlaced” project constitutes and they are based on the same visual
and thematic starting point.
The title, ”de-Placed”, is an invented expression referring to space/place in life and de-construction.
object :
Generally, Bella Angora and Christian Falsnaes are working on twisting
the common perception of reality and the system of norms, patterns and
social interaction that controls it. Through this process, the object
is to create a critique of values that are often presented as being
objective true, and to produce an image of an utopia universe where
everyone are co-creating reality through open interaction and active
positioning.
“dePlaced” is, more concrete, an attempt to visualize an often
repressed feeling of being displaced in reality, in body, in gender and
in the consisting system of patterns. At the same time, “dePlaced” is
an attempt to give a proposal on the role of performance art in
contemporary society. A society where the limits between different
instances of communication and art are crossed and new forms of
expression arises in this crossing point.
