Selected artist around the world
2000 Basel, Summer
As a continuation of the exhibition ON PAPER at Stalke Galleri, the format Selected Artists was established as a unified installation presentation that was continuously changed and updated. The works were presented within a single, shared installation in which selected artists formed part of a dynamic sequence, and where the display was adjusted over time.
The project was curated by Sam Jedig and took as its point of departure paper-based works as a flexible and open field of practice. The ongoing replacement of works made it possible to highlight differences in material use, method, and visual strategy, while the installation as a whole retained a coherent structure.
The evolving installation emphasized a focus on process, repetition, and variation, and on how meaning emerges through relationships between works rather than through isolated presentations. The format allowed for an exploration of temporality and proximity, enabling the works to be read differently over time.
With Selected Artists, Stalke Galleri investigated an exhibition model in which curating was understood as a continuous practice, and where the installation functioned as an active space for visual juxtaposition, adjustment, and re-reading.
